opportunities to serve

"I HAVE SET YOU AN EXAMPLE... GO AND DO AS I HAVE DONE."

~JESUS (JOHN 13: 15)

At Sandbridge Community Chapel, we believe knowing and following Jesus means getting involved in ministry.  What better place to start than right here in our own church family?  We also believe that the best way to get connect is to actually connect.  Our challenge is to practice "Worship plus One".  Very simply, come to worship and then do one other thing.  It will help you get to know and serve others, but also help our church provide the ministries necessary to fulfill our mission...

Go and make disciples for the transformation of the world!

COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITES

"I HAVE SET AN EXAMPLE FOR YOU... DO AS I HAVE DONE"

~ JESUS (JOHN 13: 15)

Sandbridge Community Chapel partners with numerous ministries throughout our community and beyond.  Whether you volunteer weekly, occasionally or even make a donation, you are sharing Jesus with your help.  Those ripples of grace and care go out from our church to change lives and the world for eternity.

  • FOOD PANTRY

    THE GATHERING @ SCOTT MEMORIAL

We are the largest food pantry in the city of Virginia Beach! We serve the working poor in our community helping an average of 300 households/ over 1000 people per week.  Drive through food pantry is open Wednesdays from 4:30 - 6:30 pm.  Volunteers are needed from 10 am - 7 pm.

  • Faith Works Coalition (FWC) was established to eliminate poor living conditions in the Virginia Beach and Chesapeake communities by repairing homes for the elderly, disadvantaged and disabled low income families.  With a mission of keeping our neighbors safe, warm and dry, Faith Works volunteers have completed over 750 projects since 2008.  All tools and construction expertise will be provided.  We simply ask for willing helping hands.

  • UNITED METHODIST VOLUNTEERS IN MISSION

UMVIM is a grassroots movement within The United Methodist Church designed to provide an official channel for volunteer service. Through UMVIM, Christians (lay and clergy) can offer their skills and talents for service in their home country and around the world on short-term assignments.  Sandbridge participates most effectively through emergency monetary donations, disaster response and short term mission teams, and providing Emergency Flood Buckets.  Special calls for volunteers and donations will be posted on the Sandbridge UMC home page.

  • VIRGINIA BEACH WINTER SHELTER

In cooperation with PIN (People in Need) Ministries and the BEACH Community Partnership, Sandbridge Community Chapel helps to provide overnight housing and meals for homeless individuals in Virginia Beach.  The shelter rotates week to week through various partner churches throughout the community.  Sandbridge CCUMC works directly with The Garden at Scott memorial to prepare meals and provide volunteers for a week in January.  Volunteer registration will begin in December.
