What We Believe

Our Mission

Make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Matthew 28:18-20

Our Vision

AS A COMMUNITY, WE WILL GET TO KNOW JESUS, GROW IN DISCIPLESHIP AND SERVE THE WORLD TOGHETHER.

We will offer a loving and welcoming community of faith.  Where all individuals can hear about the love, grace and salvation offered by Jesus Christ.  We will work with one another to understand who Jesus is and what it means to be his disciple in today's world.  We will work side by side to reach out to our community and beyond, serving as the hands and feet of Jesus to those in physical, emotional or spiritual need.

"They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer...Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts.  They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people.  And the LORD added to their number daily THOSE WHO WERE BEING SAVED!"  (Excerpts from Acts 2: 42-47)

Our Core Beliefs

Holy Trinity - God in three persons

CREATOR GOD:  God created all that we know as heavens and earth.

JESUS CHRIST:  God's expression of his own character, love and grace in human form.  In Jesus, God's  "Word became flesh and dwelt among us" (John 1: 14).  Through the power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus was born of a virgin named Mary.  Fully human and also fully God, Jesus demonstrated how to live out loving God first and foremost and loving others as ourselves.  Though Jesus was himself without sin, in atonement for the sin of all humanity, Jesus willingly suffered, was crucified, dead and buried.  The third day, he rose from the dead, spent some time interacting with his followers and others and then ascended to heaven to sit at the right hand of God.  Jesus will someday return to usher in the fullness of God's Kingdom on earth.

HOLY SPIRIT:  The power of God that was present at creation and in person of Jesus Christ and continues to move as God's presence in the world.  This power draws all people to return to God's love and grace, works to transform those  would accept that grace into the character of Christ and empowers individuals to serve God and others according to Jesus' example.

GIFT OF SALVATION

We believe that every person is lost in sin apart from Christ and in need of a Savior. Jesus Christ died as a full and sufficient payment for the sins of the entire world, and His shed blood is the only provision by which an individual may be delivered from eternal separation from God. We believe that salvation is a gift of God's grace, offered to all who would put their faith in Jesus Christ. We believe that humankind is justified by grace through faith alone, apart from human merit or works.

BIBLE IS GOD'S WORD

Through the Bible, God reveals Himself to us, showing his character, and His will. Though written by people, the Bible is inspired by God. Through the power of the Holy Spirit,  God continues to inspire our reading and understanding of Scripture.   The Bible is our source of truth and guides us in our day to day living and beliefs. It is our roadmap for living out loving God and others.

UNIVERSAL CHURCH

We believe that the true, universal church is made up of all who have saving faith in Jesus Christ.  As followers of Jesus, empowered by the Holy Spirit, the universal church serves as the living Body of Christ in the world.  Our mission is to carry on his ministry of sharing the love and grace of God with the world and drawing others into the Kingdom of God.
